Garden Clubs
• The Hoffman Estates Garden Club invites author and landscape designer Pam Duthie for a lecture titled "Continuous Color - The Stars of Fall" on designing continuous blooming landscapes during the growing season, particularly the fall. Demonstration

Garden walk
• The 27th Annual Logan Square Preservation House & Garden Walk will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 6. Eight homes, two churches and nine gardens are featured around the Chicago Logan Square Boulevards District. Cost is $15-$18. Call (773) 706-4129 for more information.
Chicago Botanic Garden
• The Illinois Mycological Association Show & Sale features exhibits of 50 to 100 varieties of mushrooms from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today.
• A Grapes & Hops tasting of wine and beer will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 3. Admission is $10 and visitors must be 21 or older to attend (designated drivers admitted free).
• A farmers market will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 7.
• Model Sailboat Sunday will feature races and more from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 7.
