Man charged in 2 crashes in less than 5 hours

JERSEYVILLE -- A 32-year-old southern Illinois man is free on bond after being charged in two separate car crashes on the same day.

Police say Bryan Kirchner of Jerseyville totaled his Ford Focus when he hit two parked cars on Wednesday morning. He was charged with failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

He was treated at an area hospital and released after posting his driver's license as bond.

Less than five hours later, police say he crossed the center line while driving a different vehicle and collided with a pickup truck.

The driver of that truck was treated for minor injuries.

Kirchner was charged in Jersey County Circuit Court with driving under the influence of drugs and improper lane usage.

He is free on $300 bond.
