Downstate man killed in backhoe accident
LITCHFIELD -- Authorities in Montgomery County are investigating the death of a 43-year-old Litchfield man, who was crushed by a backhoe while he was trying to load it onto a trailer.
The county sheriff's office says the truck and trailer lost traction while Daniel Greenwood was loading the backhoe and rolled down the driveway, causing the trailer to jackknife.
When the Litchfield Fire Department arrived at the scene, Greenwood was pinned beneath the backhoe.
Montgomery County Coroner Rick Broaddus pronounced Greenwood dead, and an investigation is ongoing.
