Organizers thank walkathon helpers

On behalf of the Downtown St. Charles Partnership, the River Corridor Foundation and the planning committee, specifically, would like to thank everyone who helped make the second annual Bob Leonard Walkathon such a grand success.

We are especially grateful for a beautiful day to enjoy a stroll along the river through downtown St. Charles. Walkers enjoyed the St. Charles riverfront from Pottawatomie Park to Mt. St. Mary Park, featuring the Sculpture in the Park exhibit. Notable among those responsible are:

City Administrator Brian Townsend, for leading the walk, and the St. Charles City Council and staff members for support of the event. All of the sponsors of the event, including: the Daily Herald, The PrivateBank, Wine Sergi & Co., St. Charles Park District, Norris Funeral Home, Valley Community Bank, Keller Williams Fox Valley Realty, Hotel Baker, Delnor Health & Wellness Center, Aquascape Designs, Onesti Entertainment, Sage Bistro, Visions by Victoria, EmbroidMe of St. Charles, Sign-A-Rama, Water Options, The Bike Rack, The Breadsmith, Gramp's Frozen Custard and Blue Goose Market. And every one of our committee members and volunteers, without whom the day would not have been possible. The St. Charles Noon Kiwanis members for their continued support of River Corridor projects and volunteering during the walkathon.

The family of Bob Leonard, especially Joan Leonard, honorary chairwoman of the event, and Jeff Leonard for serenading everyone at the reception following the walk.

And certainly, the 200 walkathon participants who turned out to experience the scenic beauty of the Fox River through downtown St. Charles.

We are pleased that Bob Leonard's legacy to St. Charles is in creating "a lively downtown riverfront environment - a community centerpiece where residents and visitors can live, work, shop, dine, and play."
