Obama didn't even unite Springfield

As our U.S. senator, Barack Obama has not taken the opportunity to showcase his leadership skills to help his constituents by working to resolve the various stalemates and dysfunctional problems associated with the Democratic Illinois governor and legislature.

How am I now to believe that he would be able to unite Democrats and Republicans in Washington?
