McCain no longer can unite country
I guess the big question is, "Do you really think John McCain can do a better job of uniting the left and the right?"
A year ago, perhaps you could have answered "yes" to that question. Today, as McCain has surrounded himself with all of George W. Bush's and Karl Rove's acolytes, McCain has sold his soul to get the presidency.
Sure, you can argue that any politician "sells his soul" to some degree, including Barack Obama. However, McCain for decades had positioned himself as the outsider, the maverick. Unfortunately that is no more.
I would suggest people re-look at Barack's candidacy for what he could do and what he could change.
OK, so, a single guy didn't clean up Illinois politics. Any history of Illinois politics would tell you this challenge is likely bigger than solving the federal government's issues.
In reality, it will take a revolution by all the citizens of Illinois to change Illinois. From all the anecdotes I have heard, there is simply too much corruption between politicians, unions and the citizenry.
I say, "Give Barack a shot." McCain has been there for decades and look at where Washington is now.
