Police ID body found in Oak Brook

A man found this week in an Oak Brook parking lot slumped over his steering wheel has been identified as Philip Calkins, a 38-year-old Oak Park resident.

Calkins was reported missing about 9 p.m. Sunday, police said. His body was found Wednesday morning inside his work van, which was located in a business parking lot at 2000 Clearwater Drive.

An autopsy showed no indication of foul play, but the cause of death is still unidentified, according to the DuPage County coroner's office. The case is pending further toxicological and pathological tests, officials said.

Responding to a request to check a suspicious vehicle, an Oak Brook police officer found Calkins' work van locked in a distant, closed portion of the parking lot. The officer had to break the passenger-side window to gain entry to the van.

Oak Brook and Oak Park police, along with the coroner's office, are working together to investigate the incident.
