Portion of Corron closed:

Utility work being done on Corron Road in Plato Township will close the street between Bowes and McDonald roads through September, according to a news release. Traffic will be rerouted north and south to Dittman Road using Bowes, Plato, Burlington and Silver Glen roads, as a result. For details on the project, call (630) 208-3138.

Village celebrates 50 years:

To commemorate its 50th anniversary, Sleepy Hollow is selling a limited edition die cast replicas of police squad cars. Cars come in a clear case with a base and feature hoods and door that open. The cars are $50 plus $10 shipping and handling. All proceeds benefit the Illinois Special Olympics. Violence counseling offered:

The Community Crisis Center in Elgin is now providing domestic violence counseling services for northwestern Kane County. Counseling is provided by a licensed professional counselor and is available to adult and adolescent females. All of our domestic violence services are at no cost to victims. Experts say one in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime and an estimated 1.3 million women are victims of physical assault by an intimate partner each year.
