Reserve guard Proffitt leaves Notre Dame
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Little-used guard Ty Proffitt has withdrawn from Notre Dame and plans to transfer to another school.
The 6-foot-4 sophomore from London, Ky., played only 22 minutes in eight games last season, averaging 1 point and 0.4 rebounds. He made the decision after the Irish returned from a 13-day trip to Ireland that included six games against international competition.
Proffitt wasn't expected to see much playing time this coming season behind Kyle McAlarney, Tory Jackson and Jonathan Peoples. The Irish also add transfer guard Ben Hansbrough in 2009-10.
Notre Dame coach Mike Brey said he supported Proffitt's decision to transfer.
