Carmel repeats the feat, tops Warren

Carmel's boys golf team enjoyed success at Bittersweet Golf Club last Saturday, winning the Warren invitational.

The Corsairs experienced deja vu all over again Tuesday, shooting a 163 to defeat host Warren by 10 shots.

Carmel's Jack Watson was medalist with a 38. He received support from Alex Pabich (40), John Krzmarzick (42), Mitch Meyer (43) and Billy White (43).

Zack Kim carded a 40 to lead Warren.

Cary-Grove d. Grayslake N.: At Renwood, Sean Humphrey fired a 36 for Grayslake North (163), which lost to Cary-Grove by 5 strokes.

Boys soccer

Carmel 2, St. Patrick 0: Ian Tune and Jack Stefanski scored the Corsairs in their opening game of the Lake Forest North Shore Shootout.

Bobby Merlow assisted on both goals and keeper Lukas Manieri earned the shutout for Carmel (1-0-1), which plays Deerfield at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Lake Forest.

Deerfield 6, Vernon Hills 2: Jose Montoya and Adam Senalan had goals for the Cougars, who surrendered 5 second-half goals in the North Shore Shootout contest.

Johnsburg 4, Grant 1: At Johnsburg, Sean Jasiak scored for the Bulldogs, who host Zion-Benton at 6:15 p.m. Thursday.

Stevenson 3, Round Lake 3: John Watrach scored twice for Stevenson. Round Lake (0-0-1) gotgoals from David Tellez, Alex Murua and Cesar Garcia.

Girls tennis

Vernon Hills 4, Grayslake N. 3: Tia Ginakakis and Jessica Martine prevailed in a third-set tiebreaker at No. 4 doubles to lift Vernon Hills.

The Cougars swept doubles, with Liza Xu/Colleen Rhoades (No. 1), Elina Shapiro/Lindsey Gallagher (No. 2) and Angela Cao/Mansi Kathuria (No. 3) also winning.

Lakes 5, Belvidere N. 2: The Eagles swept doubles with Jeanna Dudley/Elisa Lopez (No. 1), Alyssa Wittman/Taylor Pooley (No. 2), Jessica David/Maria Karstedt (No. 3) and Kali Miller/Emily Denman (No. 4).

Lake Zurich 6, Fremd 1: The Bears won their season opener thanks to straight-set singles wins from Margaret Boden (No. 2) and Monika Gasiorek (No. 3). Lake Zurich also won all four doubles matches thanks to Val Wilson/Emily Rowland (No. 1), Emily Rabe/Jen Hacker (No. 2), Krisy Petersen/Lindsay Thompson (No. 3) and Bailry Wagner/Kelly Herman (No. 4).
