Reclamation project at Lake Delton in the works

It appears that help is in the offing for Lake Delton in the famous Wisconsin Dells.

There is a meeting going on today with various Wisconsin state officials pertaining to the "reclamation" of the lake following devastating floods earlier this year. This includes a large restocking effort of various game and pan fish.

Lake Delton became nothing more than a mudhole following massive flooding that subsequently led to a dam failure and total drainage of the lake in to the Wisconsin River.

Fishing report

My pick for the Labor Day weekend is the Fox River. Smallmouth bass action continues on the river from Algonquin down to Aurora. The best area right now is below the Batavia Dam.

Fox Chain: This has been an extraordinary summer season for the Chain regarding excellent walleye and muskie fishing. Lake Marie continues to provide good crappie and jumbo bluegill action, while the walleye and muskie activity continues to charge ahead.

Bangs Lake: If you get on this lake, make sure you fish before the jet skis and power boats start to do their thing. An early morning bass bite on the north and west shoreline should be good.

Skokie Lagoon: Look for largemouth bass to be holding right in the heavy weed cover.

Lake Michigan: Perch action is an early morning venture with decent perching happening around Lake Forest in 50 feet of water. Coho and king action starting to pick up again during early morning periods.
