Bartlett teen charged with school vandalism
A 16-year-old Bartlett boy has been charged with a vandalism spree at Bartlett High School, police announced Tuesday.
Police said the boy, a student at the school, did an estimated $2,800 in damage to some classrooms and the school library on Aug. 15. He was charged with criminal damage to government supported property, Sgt. Michael McGuigan said.
McGuigan said the boy was arrested Aug. 16 after police found him intoxicated in front of the Schick Road school, jumping in front of cars. Police said they were able to link evidence at the scene to the vandalism.
The same teen was charged July 11 with criminal damage to state support property after he damaged a well pumping station, McGuigan said. On that occasion police found the teen naked and intoxicated and running into traffic along Stearns Road near Centennial Elementary School, McGuigan said.
The teen was released to his parents. His Wheaton juvenile court date has yet to be scheduled.
