Elgin opens with win

Raul Hernandez and Omar Jasso each scored 2 goals Tuesday as the Elgin High boys soccer team opened the season with a 4-0 win over St. Edward in the St. Edward tournament. Osel Ravadan had 3 saves in goal for the Maroons and John Duggan made 12 saves for St. Edward.

CL South 2, Hononegah 0: The Gators won for the second straight day via shutout as Zack Dalzell was called on to make just 2 saves. Jordan Innis and Drew Hoefner had the CL South goals.

Dundee-Crown 2, Highland Park 1: Wyatt Vucic and Richardo Carillo scored for the Chargers in this win at the North Shore Shootout. Josh Cook had 6 saves in goal for D-C.

Cary-Grove 3, Westminster 0: Josh Latshaw, John Oberlies and Calvin Brown scored the goals for the Trojans in this St. Edward tournament win. Ben Alleva made 1 save in goal for Cary-Grove.

Larkin 6, OP-RF 0: Raul Sandoval notched the hat trick to lead the Royals to this win in the Leyden tournament. David Hernandez, Carson McFadden and Fernando Alvarez each added goals for Larkin and Rasiel Somarriba was in the goal.

DeKalb 2, Burlington Central 0: Kyle DeRaedt had 9 saves in goal but the Rockets couldn't manage any offense in this nonconference loss to DeKalb.

Waubonsie Valley 5, South Elgin 4: Bart Mazsurerk had a hat trick but the Storm (0-2, 0-1) fell to Waubonsie in an Upstate Eight Conference game at Millennium Field. Ernesto Caballero had the other goal for South Elgin and Ryan Hicks had 9 saves in goal.
