Local filmmaker's work is must viewing
The recently released documentary film "I.O.U.S.A." clearly outlines the slippery slope of our nation's future because of our national debt.
Government is spending foolishly, people are not saving, our dollar is devalued, and we import more than we export. Chicago-native filmmaker, Patrick Creadon, tells us what we are lacking is leadership and public awareness.
This is a film that all politicians, adults and adolescents should view.
Without changes in our spending habits, both personal and political, the United States cannot sustain its position as a world leader.
Telling people to conserve and government to make program cuts is not popular. Americans react to a crisis. Well, we are in one now, but no one is talking about it except this film and David Walker, former comptroller for the federal government.
I highly recommend you watch this film, and then write to your Congressmen. We cannot demand programs that we cannot afford.
Todd Stroger, Governor Blagojevich, and our presidential candidates should be required to watch this film and take notes.
