In celebration of its 150th anniversary, the Kane County Bar Association has scheduled monthly Ask a Lawyer Days throughout 2008. Teen book club meets

Every month, members of Huntley Teen Book Club meet to discuss their favorite books and what they've been reading. If you're in grades seven through 12, you can join that discussion this month. The Teen Book Club will meet from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday. Bring one or two books to pass around to the rest of the club. Register at the reference desk. The meeting will be at Old Village Hall, 11704 Coral St., Huntley.

Smelt Fry

The South Elgin Lions Club will hold its first-ever smelt fry from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 12 at 500 Fulton St., South Elgin. The cost is $7 and includes smelt, fries, coleslaw and a dinner. A cash bar with $1 drafts also is available, along with free hot dogs for kids. Carryout dinners also are available. A disc jockey will begin playing music at 7 p.m. Call (847) 888-9575.
