Seals to improve education for all

Dan Seals understands that among our country's greatest virtues is that of opportunity. America offers public education to every citizen, which acts as the first step on the ladder of upward mobility, epitomizing our dedication to opportunity and the American dream. America's democracy is founded on the ability of its citizens to be critically thinking and civically involved. Without a properly funded and equitable education system, the higher-level thinking and ambition that are the ingredients of democracy threaten to dwindle.

No Child Left Behind was a well-conceived but grievously executed program that is in dire need of change. Dan Seals promises to nourish NCLB with the funding and precision necessary to be effective. Seals advocates properly funding the schools targeted for improvement to help them overcome the penalties our children have suffered for their substandard education. Additionally, Seals recognizes the worth of considering students with special needs, something NCLB is currently lacking. Furthermore, a more comprehensive evaluation of education is necessary to avoid teaching to tests rather than fostering higher-level thinking.
