Governor names new department heads

Two heads of Illinois agencies are swapping jobs.

Gov. Rod Blagojevich has picked James Sledge to serve as director of the Illinois Department of Central Management Services. He'd previous led the Illinois Department of Employment Security and he also is the former executive director of the Illinois Human Rights Commission.

Replacing Sledge at IDES will be Maureen O'Donnell, who'd been the acting director of CMS since March 2007. O'Donnell has both a law degree and an MBA, as well as being a registered nurse.

CMS is responsible for personal, procurement and property management for the state. It also oversees Illinois' technology system.

IDES provides services for employers, workers and jobs seekers across Illinois.
