Don't be cruel by dumping pets

This letter is addressed to the few people who think that by releasing their unwanted pets loose into the forest preserves and woods, they are setting them free, or doing something good for their animals.

As a family member who lives across from such a place, we find half-starved animals that have been abandoned by their owners. Please deposit these animals at an animal shelter. The kittens and puppies that we find are in horrible shape.

Sometimes it is somebody's dog who happens to be too old or sick that makes their way to our front door, whimpering and crying, with no tags or collars.

The people who do this to these poor animals should be ashamed of this practice.

Please think about the consequences of your actions before you deposit your unwanted pets.
