Praise for School District 10,Itasca

As school buses rolled through the streets of Itasca and many other suburban school districts for the first day of school, I took pause during my retirement to reflect on my tenure as superintendent of Itasca School District 10.

I can quite honestly say that the time from mid-2001 through mid-2008 was the highlight of my professional career.

The reason for that statement revolves around the people affiliated with District 10 and the village of Itasca.

Schools are staffed with dedicated professionals who genuinely care about their students.

The administration is knowledgeable, effective and hard-working.

The board of education puts students first and works hard to protect the community's investment in schools.

Perhaps most importantly, parents and students take education seriously.

Itasca's leaders know the value good schools bring to the community.

Therefore, village trustees, park district board members, fire protection district board members, library board members as well as administration and staff from all agencies are always ready to assist District 10 in achieving its goals. I applaud them for this support.

Itasca will always be my "second hometown" and will always be near and dear to my heart.

Best wishes to District 10 and the village of Itasca for continued success.
