Garden Walk

Demonstration
• The 19th Annual Heirloom Garden Show is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Garfield Farm Museum, located north of Route 38 on Garfield Road between Geneva and Elburn. Learn about breeding varieties of plants under different conditions and more. Admission $6; $2 for kids. Call (630) 584-8485.
• Knupper Nursery hosts two workshops on Saturday at 1801 N. Rand Road, Palatine. Learn how to make a composting worm bin for your garden at 10 a.m. The $20 class fee includes materials. Registration is required.

Tree offer
• The Arbor Day Foundation is offering 10 free Colorado Blue Spruce Trees to anyone who joins the organization in August. Visit arborday.org for more information.

• The "All About Peppers Weekend" is 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and features demonstrations, tours and other family activities.
• The Carillon Concert Series ends 7 p.m. Monday.
• A "Grapes & Hops: Celebration of Wine and Beer" tasting is from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. Admission is $10 and free for designated drivers.
• The Illinois Mycological Association Show & Sale features exhibits of 50 to 100 varieties of mushrooms from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 31.
