We should have seen this coming
A short note with a welcome bottom line!
Our country and its citizens have adjustments to make (some will be uncomfortable) before the lifestyle of many American citizens returns to "comfortable" again.
Did the current dilemma that many citizens face today (high prices and low wages) create the downturn in our economy?
Or, did it begin with the outsourcing of many manufacturing jobs? Our jobless rate is at a four-year high - 5.7 percent is the latest number given.
Could we have too many immigrants (legal and illegal) taking jobs for low wages and reducing the pay scale of others?
Has the greed of some in the mortgage industry (promoting and selling homes to people that can't afford to make the commitment) added the last straw?
Some in government continue to spend without consideration to the fact that many citizens have had to drastically tighten their belt and watch every dollar they spend. Taxes do not always have to increase.
All of these conditions have been reported on in our news media this year. The net result - many citizens are without jobs today and some are losing their homes to foreclosure. New home construction is at a standstill and existing home values are down.
You noticed all of this! I noticed it and - would you believe it - Campton Township Assessor Alan Rottmann noticed it!
How about this - Alan is working on lowering the assessed home values here in Campton Township to reflect current market conditions.
Very welcome news, possibly the best all year!? Has anyone else considered the struggles that many of our citizens are now faced with?
