Editorial unfair to Obama, McCain

You are really off-base with your editorial (Our View, Aug. 20) regarding the travels of senators Obama and McCain. You are arguing for all elected officials to spend all of their time in their office talking to lobbyists. Is that what you really want?

You should be calling for every federal official to be required to travel the state, country and world on a continuing basis.

The best thing that could happen to our system of government is to get every elected official out of D.C. to see firsthand how the country is running and how federal taxes are being spent - or wasted.

Instead, you want them to stick to their office and talk to the only people who can afford to visit them - lobbyists. Yikes.
