One reason swim records are broken
Not to take anything away from Michael Phelps or any other world-class swimmer, but perhaps the reason so many records are being broken is because these athletes are better divers than they are swimmers.
When I see them leaping off the starting blocks, they easily cut off what, three meters from their actual swimming distance?
To call a 200-meter race truly 200 meters, swimmers should assume a starting position by standing in the water, not flinging themselves into the pool from a raised platform.
