Teen arrested in Buffalo Grove car burglaries
A 17-year-old has been arrested by Buffalo Grove police and charged in a series of car burglaries.
Joshua G. Pierce, 17, of the 15000 block of West Walnut in Deerfield, was charged Monday with seven counts of burglary, three counts of attempted burglary and six counts of criminal damage to property.
Police said they were called to the 1200 block of East Deerfield Parkway in the early morning hours Monday, where a resident reported hearing loud noises in the parking lot and car doors opening and closing. Looking out, the resident saw a man looking into cars, who then left on a bicycle.
When officers arrived they found numerous cars with broken windows. Riverwoods, Lincolnshire and Lake County police helped set up a perimeter, and a Buffalo Grove officer found Pierce riding a bike in the area. Pierce had a stereo face plate in his pocket from one of the vehicles, police said.
According to police reports, Pierce entered 11 cars, breaking the windows on some.
He was taken to Lake County courthouse for a hearing Tuesday, where his bond was set at $5,000.
His next court date is Sept. 10.
