Minor injuries in Hoffman Estates motorcycle crash

Hoffman Estates police said one man received minor injuries in a motorcycle accident at about 7:30 a.m.

Sgt. Greg Poulos of the Hoffman Estates Police said the unidentified motorcycle driver was heading northbound on Barrington Road but didn't see a line of cars stopped at the Golf Road intersection.

The driver slammed on his brakes, Poulos said, but slid hard into the intersection and laid the bike on its side.

No other cars were involved in the accident and the rider was wearing a helmet, police said.

The driver was taken from the scene to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates with non-life threatening injuries, Poulos said. Traffic at the intersection was backed up for about 30 minutes while the accident was tended to, he said.
