Mental health exam won't be videotaped

A mental health examination of a Clarendon Hills man accused of murdering and sexually assaulting his 8-year-old daughter in 2006 will not be videotaped.

DuPage County Judge Blanche Hill Fawell on Tuesday denied prosecutors' request for the videotaping, saying she did not have the authority to order lawyers for Neil Lofquist to do so and hand it to prosecutors.

There has yet to be a ruling on the state of Lofquist's mental health, however, defense attorneys could use the insanity defense.

A mental health exam of Lofquist by a prosecution expert has been videotaped and was given Tuesday to defense attorneys.

The 43-year-old Lofquist is charged with first-degree murder and predatory criminal sexual assault. He is accused of choking his daughter, Lauren, and drowning her in a toilet.
