Wheeling examines creating TIF district
The village of Wheeling held two public hearings Monday on the proposed southeast tax increment financing district and the expansion of the north TIF district. Representatives from several taxing bodies and residents spoke up about the two proposals, which the board will vote on Sept. 2. The southeast TIF district, which would be the fifth in town, includes the portion of Chicago Executive Airport that is owned by Wheeling. The village has no definite plans for the area but wants to bolster the industrial uses there. The north TIF district is around Milwaukee Avenue and Lake-Cook Road.
