Barrington approves hospice

Barrington village trustees gave final approval Monday to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois to build a new $18 million Hospice Home and Center for Care building. Located on 6.7 acres on Lake Zurich Road, the nearly 42,000-square-foot facility will consist of 16 inpatient rooms, a family room/children's play area, dining room, clinical team space, staff and volunteer training/education rooms, quiet meditation room, the Center for Loss and Hope (bereavement support) and administrative offices. The new building will be built in line with guidelines for the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Building Rating System. The hospice plans to break ground on the new facility this fall. Hospice of Northeastern Illinois is a community based, nonprofit organization serving families throughout McHenry, Lake, Cook, Kane, Boone and DuPage counties.
