Northwestern lacrosse adds new assistant coach

Former Northwestern all-American and three-time national champion Ann Elliott will join the Wildcat's lacrosse staff as an assistant coach, head coach Kelly Amonte Hiller announced today.

"We are so thrilled to welcome Ann on board for the 2008-2009 season," said Amonte Hiller. "As a player, Ann was a dynamic leader and inspiration to her teammate. She has a keen eye for analyzing the game and will be an asset for the team. She will serve as the coordinator of defense, but will share responsibility for all aspects of the team."

A four-time letterwinner at Northwestern, Elliott was a key member of the 2005, 2006 and 2007 national championship teams, earning third-team All-American honors as a senior. The Wildcats' team captain in 2007, Elliott finished her NU career with 44 caused turnovers and scooped up 101 ground balls. She also notched 14 goals and added an assist during her Wildcat career, and was named Academic All-Big Ten three times.

Since graduating from Northwestern in 2007, Elliott has served as the head coach of the Wildcat Elite Club and the Wildcat Developmental Team. She also spent the past season as an assistant coach for New Trier High School, helping the Trevians to the 2008 state championship.

Elliott replaces Acacia Walker, who recently left to fill the assistant coaching vacancy at the University of Massachusetts under former Wildcat assistant Alexis Venechanos.
