Vacant lot is danger, eyesore

The vacant gas station at the corner of Route 176 and Milwaukee Avenue is not only an eyesore, but a danger as well. I witnessed that first hand a few summers ago as I was walking past the location on my way to the walking/bike path. I heard a loud crackling, rumbling, creaking sound and looked up to see the corner of the roof caving in before my eyes. Broken boards, asphalt shingles and shards of other roofing materials came crashing down in an instant. It's fortunate no one was hurt. The pile of rubble sat there for a long, long time and I often wondered who was responsible for the mess. The village of Libertyville should aggressively pursue its complaint against the owners of this eyesore and an accident waiting to happen.
