Imrem offends fans of USA swimming

What does Mike Imrem (Aug. 13) mean, "Who watches swimming?" All of us patriotic to the USA!

Has Imrem ever swum a mile in the water? Has he ever tried to swim the butterfly?

Swimming uses every muscle in your body. It is a great sport. Not all of us care to sit and watch a two-to-four hour baseball game where they only exercise a little when the players are eventually up to bat or a ball eventually comes to them in the outfield. The pitcher seems to be the most active.

I love hockey, football. tennis and golf. I love watching gymnastics, figure skating, etc., and admire the work they have put into their sport over the years.

Those swimmers have also dedicated their lives to their sport and deserve the recognition they are getting from other sports columnists.

Imrem should keep watching his "Great American Dogs" and lie down with them.
