Suspects nabbed in Gurnee
Gurnee police announced Friday the arrests of three men suspected in a burglary at O'Plaine Elementary School, 333 O'Plaine Road in Gurnee.
The men were charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of criminal damage to state-supported property, two counts of criminal trespass to property and one count of theft.
All charges are felonies. Charged were two Gurnee residents: Dandre Jones 22, and Derek Sebben 21, both of the 4300 block of Finch Court. Also charged was Jonathan Lavell Villasana 20, of the 36000 block of Grandwood Drive in unincorporated Warren Township.
Each was held on a $50,000 bond Friday in the Lake County jail in Waukegan. Police said they responded to a burglary alarm at the school, just south of Grand Avenue, at 4:28 a.m. Tuesday. The first officer on the scene observed someone inside the school.
Police said the three were arrested a short time later. During an investigation, police said, it was determined the suspects had committed a burglary at the school Aug. 5, when several computers were reported taken.
Authorities said Tuesday's theft remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Gurnee police at (847) 599-7000 or Lake County Crime Stoppers at (847) 662-2222.
