Garden Walk

• The University of Illinois at Chicago's College of Pharmacy hosts free tours of its garden from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday at 833 S. Wood St., Chicago. Featured are more than 100 species of medicinal plants such as black cohosh and echinacea and more. Visit www.uic.edu/pharmacy/garden/ for more information.

Demonstration

• The 19th Annual Heirloom Garden Show is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 24 at the Garfield Farm Museum, located off Route 83 on Garfield Road. Learn about breeding varieties of plants under different conditions and more. Admission $6; $2 for kids. Call (630) 584-8485.

• Big City Swing with Lesley Byers and The Jazz Cats perform 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 21.
