Fire damages Palatine home

An overnight blaze left a Palatine home uninhabitable because of heavy fire, heat and smoke damage.

Because no one was at the home at 1164 S. Brockway St., the fire spread undetected until a neighbor called it in just before 3 a.m., the fire department said.

Fire crews from Palatine, Rolling Meadows and the Palatine Rural Fire Department had the blaze under control within about 30 minutes.

The residents of the modest single-family home, two adults and a child, have been displaced.

No damage estimate has been given, and the fire’s cause is still under investigation.
