Briefs: Dance team holds car wash fundraiser
The Dundee-Crown Dance Team will hold a car wash fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Wright Wash on Route 62 in Algonquin. All proceeds from the car wash will help the team offset the costs of new uniforms. The team will accept donations for the car wash services.
Grant applications open
The 2009 Elgin Cultural Arts Commission Grant Program applications are now online at www.cityofelgin.org. Only Elgin based, Illinois registered not-for-profit groups may apply, and applications must be for a specific project. Expenditures of grant money must occur between Jan. 1, 2009, and Dec. 31, 2009. All applications are due no later than 5 p.m. Oct. 24. A copy of proof of Illinois not-for-profit status document (annual report to the Secretary of State dated not more than 12 months ago) must be submitted along with the completed application. Hidden Hero
Renz Addiction Counseling Center's Marcos Bostho was honored this week with a Hidden Heroes of Public Health Award at the Kane County Board of Health. The award was first given out in 1997 as a means to honor residents who have furthered public health principles and practices and provide services to Kane County. Bostho was honored for his achievements in HIV/AIDS prevention and education and his work in Latino communities.
Congressman goes to Jewel
