Antioch man arrested for underaged beer bash

Officials have arrested and charged an Antioch man after they say he hosted a party for underage drinkers in honor of his daughter's 19th birthday.

David Zell, 46, of 328 Bridgewood Ave. in Antioch, was charged along with six underaged drinkers after noise from the party prompted neighbors to call police at 9:09 p.m. Aug. 2.

Zell was charged on Aug. 4 with unlawful delivery of alcoholic beverages to a minor, a Class A misdemeanor, following a police investigation. If convicted, Zell could be fined up to $1,000 and spend one year in jail.

Zell admitted to police during his arrest that he purchased a keg for the birthday party, officials said.

Ashley Totten, 19, Zell's daughter, was cited by police for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor. Charged with the same offense are Stephanie Simo, 18, of A Street in Antioch; Thomas Gilday, 20, of Hermann Drive in Antioch; Jacqueline Guido, 19, of Longview Drive in Antioch; Daniel Wenzel, 19, of Pleasant Prairie, Wisc.; and Gene Auten, 18, of Grass Lake Road in unincorporated Lake County near Antioch.

The teens, all charged under local laws, are scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 10.

Zell is expected to appear in court on Aug. 25.
