Five-car crash ties up Algonquin traffic

Police and fire have cleared a multiple vehicle crash from a key Algonquin intersection that injured one person and turned the Thursday morning commute into a mess.

"The main problem was traffic," said Lt. Bill Hough of the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District.

Four vehicles, including a tractor trailer, slammed into one another in the northbound lanes of Randall Road, just north of County Line Road. A fifth vehicle pulled over, but that individual was just a witness to the accident, Hough said.

Four of the five injured declined transport, so paramedics took just one person to a hospital. Traffic was tied up for almost an hour at the site just before a lane reduction due to the installation of new traffic signals.
