Will fingerprint checks be reliable?
We all heard that TSA takes fingerprints at airports on arrival of visitors to U.S. and we depend on its results, hoping criminals will be caught.
We had different experiences with fingerprints. Two of my relatives had to take fingerprints over and over at different times.
One person lives in Punjab State, India and took the over night train to New Delhi. Being night travel, he needed a buddy system. So two people had to travel to New Delhi three times for fingerprints and it cost two nights and a day journey just for fingerprints.
The other time, my nephew had his fingerprints taken in the New Delhi embassy only to find out after two or three months that his fingerprint results were lost.
He was shy of three months to turn 21 when his immigration category would change. There was a great possibility he would not to able to come to U.S. on his parent's petition.
We contacted Sen. Dick Durbin, who questioned the embassy. Within days, my nephew was called to New Delhi, fingerprints taken and the visa granted.
My concern is when at the airport fingerprints are taken to determine whether to allow people into the U.S., how dependable will this practice be?
