State should not increase gas tax

Last week's letter by Joe Dun on gas prices and taxes was very much on the money. (Fence Post, Aug. 6)

But our wonderful state has a gasoline tax which few state have that is on a percentage, not a flat rate.

So when the price of gas goes up, so does the amount of money that is paid to the state.

And they want to raise the tax? If the state (Illinois) wants to increase its intake of revenue, then all state employees including the governor should turn in their state-paid gasoline credit cards.
