Murphy exploits county sales tax
Gov. Blagojevich is starting to rub off on my State Sen. Matt Murphy.
He thinks that legislating via press conference and press releases is going to actually repeal the Cook County sales tax increase.
If he had any integrity, he also wouldn't hold his political campaign press conferences in public buildings paid for by the taxpayers.
And if he really wanted to be a leader, he might try starting to do some actual work on the State Senate Revenue Committee.
Matt Murphy won't raise taxes, won't expand gaming, won't refinance bond debt to reduce the state's interest payments and he certainly can't seem to find any other money to pay for the state or county's obligations.
Maybe he will give his legislative pay increase and cost of living increase he is going to get next year to the county treasury to pay for things.
Sen. Murphy should outline ways to reduce spending - by cutting Metra service in Palatine, Arlington Heights, Wheeling and Buffalo Grove, or delay county road improvements in Palatine or Prospect Heights, or reduce health care access to 15,000 under insured Palatine, Rolling Meadows, and suburban area citizens at the Vista Health Clinic. Oh wait, those might be wise tax investments.
Murphy is just like any other politician in a silly campaign season.
Using public facilities to set out his soapbox, and blow hot air into the sails of his political campaign for re-election. No incumbent like that will be getting my vote in November.
