Germans take gold in team, individual equestrian events
HONG KONG -- German Hinrich Romeike, riding Marius, won the individual gold medal in equestrian eventing.
His score of 54.2 penalty points Tuesday night edged U.S. rider Gina Miles on McKinlaigh for silver with 56.1. Miles moved up from fifth after two jumping rounds with no penalties.
Kristina Cook of Britain took the bronze on Miners Frolic with 57.4, moving up from seventh.
Earlier Tuesday, Germany edged Australia for team gold with 166.1 points. Australia finished with 171.2 for silver, and Britain took bronze with 185.7.
