Home Rule still a bad idea
Nothing changes in Prospect Heights even with the opening of the new city hall building.
Ignorant, egotistical people dictate and approve policies residents will have to pay for monetarily well into the future. They talk a good game like all politicians who want to keep office because too many people believe the pie-in-the-sky promises.
Once again the Home Rule referendum will be on the November ballot.
Ludvigsen said repeatedly that he can't say how much money would be used from the CVB hotel tax to pay for road improvement. Well, then why ask residents on a referendum question if it should be done?
Ludvigsen refuses to state a dollar amount because it's insignificant as pointed out by Ald. Vole (a whopping $30,000).
There's not enough money in hotel taxes to fix any roads anytime soon. As usual, it's a ploy to make people think that's where the money will come from.
Referring to government grants, Ald. Higgins said we are trying to get money that is owed to us.
Where does she think the government gets its money? From us, the taxpayers. Yes, we want to fix our roads. But, we want to make sure that's all we're paying for. Not all the waste that our government so easily hides.
When Ludvigsen is asked repeatedly what other benefits of Home Rule will help bring in revenue to fix the roads, he replies this is not a discussion and does not have to answer questions. So perhaps residents should do the same. When he asks us, the voters and taxpayers, for Home Rule authority we should respond resoundingly "NO."
Send him the same message. He won't tell us the entire truth or provide us with any answers, so why should he be trusted and allowed to spend our tax dollars?
