Another great BG fine arts fest
On behalf of the Buffalo Grove Arts Commission, I would like to thank the community, the village, Amdur Productions and the wonderful artists who made the seventh annual Buffalo Grove Fine Arts Invitational another resounding success.
Amid gray clouds, rain, misty conditions and then heat and humidity, a good time was had by all, as this festival had something for everyone. A variety of art, entertainment and food ensured that all of the senses were engaged - from our youth art tent to our first-ever wine tasting.
The night before the festival, as the artists unpacked, our new restaurant, "Buffalo Wings and Rings" came around to the artists with samples. What a nice welcome to our guest artists!
As the festival opened and continued through the weekend, our amazing corps of "Red Shirt" volunteers ensured that artists had everything they needed.
The Village staff, coordinated by our extraordinary Deputy Village Manager, Ghida Neukirch, brought together all community resources to reinforce safety and concern for all the artists and festival attendees.
Special thanks to Village President Elliott Hartstein and our trustees for their unwavering support of this event.
The Arts Commission was in charge of a wonderful Youth Art Tent that enabled children to decorate cookies generously donated by Deerfield Bakery. In addition, there were rocks to decorate which will be part of the village landscape in a rock garden by our Village Hall. Indian Trails Library had bookmark decorating, and Little University Day Care did face painting. Art was not only viewed, but created by budding artists.
Musical entertainment by Cirrus Falcon, always a huge crowd-pleaser, was augmented by the Arts Commission's special musical youth artists from their program, "Little Limelight" and "Limelight Café." Singers, guitarists and violinists performed for a very enthusiastic crowd. We were delighted to highlight these talented young musicians.
Finally, thank you to Amy Amdur and her staff for providing the community with yet another quality Art Festival.
We hope that you will join us next summer as we continue this rich tradition. During the year, please watch for the Arts Commission's Limelight series for students in second- through eighth grade, and support our outstanding community band, the Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band with its upcoming concert at Buffalo Grove High School in October and again at Stevenson High School in April.
Best wishes to all for a great summer!
