Cook County taxes give DuPage a boost
Recently I decided to buy an electric tool and priced what I wanted in a local lumber yard. While on my weekly trip to see my grandchildren, I purchased the item at the same chain lumber yard in Du Page County costing slightly over $100 dollars with a tax of $6.50.
Had I purchased the item in Cook County the tax would have been $10.25.
I purchased 16 gallons of gasoline across the street from the store for $4.03 a gallon while the gas station near my Chicago home had gas at $ 4.37 a gallon, a savings of $5.44.
I feel kind of bad taking my business elsewhere as high cost is not really the dealers' fault but our tax structure in Cook County. I am sure that many people feel the same and do as I am doing.
I saved over $10 by making my purchases outside of Cook County.
