Accused child molester's record dates back 40 years
More than 40 years after he was first charged with inapproriate conduct involving children, it seems 67-year-old Arthur Brown still cannot control his urges. Or so prosecutors suggest with their latest sex charges against him.
On Thursday, Cook County Associate Judge John J. Scotillo set bond at $100,000 for the Chicago resident, a convicted sex offender charged with battery and with being a child sex offender in a public park zone for an April incident in a Palatine park.
Claiming he was a doctor, Brown approached a 10-year-old boy who had been injured during a Little League game, prosecutors said. Brown began touching the boy but stopped when the boy's father intervened, they allege.
According to prosecutors, Brown was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor in 1966.
In 1974, he received supervision on a charge of taking indecent liberties with a child. He was convicted of taking indecent liberties with a child in 1984 and of aggravated sexual abuse in 1988. He also has a 2008 disorderly conduct case pending. His next court date is Sept. 12.
