Mundelein woman charged with attacking cop

A Mundelein woman long frustrated about noise generated by a nearby trucking company was arrested and charged after she attacked a police officer outside of her townhouse complex, police said.

Irina Kalinichenko, 49, of the 1300 block of Derby Lane, was charged with aggravated battery of a peace officer and resisting arrest stemming from the altercation at about 4 a.m. on Aug. 1, Mundelein Police Sgt. Gary Duhamel said.

Duhamel said officers have been called to the woman's home multiple times since she moved into the complex last year. He said the complex is located next to an industrial park in Mundelein where a trucking company operates.

Kalinichenko has long complained about the company leaving their refrigeration trucks running all night, Duhamel said.

On Aug. 1, police responded to another call from Kalinichenko about the truck noise, he said. The woman became irate at police for not doing enough to control the noise from the trucks, he said.

"There is only so much we can do about it," Duhamel said. "She moved in after the trucking company was there and she knew the trucks run at night."

Officers explained the situation to her, at which time she became upset and attacked one of the officers, Duhamel said. One officer was scratched by the woman hard enough to draw blood, he added.

She was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated battery to a police officer - a class four felony, Duhamel said.

He added the woman continued to resist officers at the scene when they were trying to place her under arrest, so she was also charged with resisting.

The woman was released from jail after posting $200 bond, police said.
