Carpentersville man accused of fondling girl
A Carpentersville man was accused Wednesday of fondling a 14-year-old girl in a private swimming pool.
Edward L. Zimbler, 47, of 53 Robin Road, was charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, delivery of alcohol to a minor and permitting a minor to become intoxicated, police said.
Two police officers on patrol early Wednesday morning saw four teenagers, two girls and two boys ages 14 and 13, walking along the street at Robin and Thrush roads.
One 14-year-old girl smelled of alcohol, staggered around and began vomiting, police said.
She was then taken to Sherman Hospital.
The three remaining teenagers said they had been to a home on the 800 block of Navajo Road, where Zimbler gave them whiskey, police said.
The 14-year-old girl told police at Sherman Hospital she was in the swimming pool at the residence about 10 p.m. on Tuesday when he approached her from behind and began rubbing her body with both hands, police said.
The teenage victim told police she exited the pool and then blacked out.
Zimbler would not talk to police but at a Thursday bond hearing, he said, "It was a big mistake. It wasn't my fault. I pushed the girl in the chest area while she was grabbing for a glass in my hand."
According to the Kane County State's Attorney's Office, Zimbler has previously been charged with theft, weapons and drug offenses.
Zimbler was held in the Kane County jail on $10,000 bond with an Aug. 15 court date at the Kane County Judicial Center.
