Briefs: Police looking for driver

The Barrington Hills police are asking the public's help in locating the driver of pickup truck who was involved in an accident Sunday morning. Police said the gray pickup truck, pulling a white- or cream-colored horse trailer, was northbound on Bateman Road, just south of Lake-Cook Road, when it attempted to pass a group of nine bicyclists. Police said two of the cyclists were hit by the horse trailer and suffered broken bones. Police said the truck driver might not even know he or she hit anyone. Anyone with information is asked to contact Barrington Hills Lt. Rich Semelsberger at (847) 551-3006.

Morning rollover on I-90

Rescue and fire crews were on the scene of a rollover accident on the shoulder of I-90 early Wednesday morning. A four-door car swerved off westbound I-90 and onto the shoulder just east of Barrington Road at about 6:40 a.m., said Master Sgt. Lance Powell of the Illinois State Police. The car rolled over and came to a rest on its roof. Rescue crews from Hoffman Estates were called, but no injuries were reported, Powell said. The unnamed driver of the car was wearing a seat belt, he added. One lane of the tollway was closed briefly following the accident, Powell said, but the incident was cleaned up and the lane reopened at about 7:20 a.m. The accident remained under investigation Wednesday; no citations have been issued, he said.

Hart Road closed Friday

A portion of Hart Road in Barrington will be closed Friday while construction crews install the press box at Barrington High School's new outdoor stadium. A giant crane will be used to install the press box in two sections. To make room for the crane, the northbound lane of Hart Road will close at 9 a.m. Friday. It is expected to reopen in the afternoon. Weather permitting, the stadium is scheduled to officially open Aug. 29, when the Barrington High football team takes on Libertyville High School. A free community open house is scheduled for 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 31. When in place, the press box will be 96 feet long by 12 feet wide and 12 feet high.

Seminar on staying injury-free

A seminar on how to help keep high school athletes injury-free will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Prairie Stone and Wellness Complex in Hoffman Estates, in conjunction with the Hoffman Estates Park District. Admission is free for all area residents, but seats must be reserved by calling (847) 767-4922 due to space limitations. The host, Brian Grasso of Schaumburg, has trained more than 15,000 young athletes worldwide including Olympic gold medalists. He's learned that most common injuries are preventable, being caused by improper training techniques and poor body alignment.
