Teen sentenced to 92 years in prison
BLOOMINGTON -- A 17-year-old who was convicted in June of the May 2007 rape of a woman in her Bloomington apartment has been sentenced to 92 years in prison.
Yarii Massey was also was convicted of burglarizing several homes before the attack on the 20-year-old woman.
Speaking before his sentencing Tuesday, Massey continued to maintain his innocence. He contends the woman agreed to give him a ride home, and then the two had consensual sex in her apartment.
In imposing the sentence, McLean County Circuit Judge Charles Reynard told Massey he possessed "a dangerousness that ought to be reflected in the court's sentence."
Massey must serve 85 percent of the sentences involving sexual assault and 50 percent of the burglary terms. He said he will appeal the sentence.
