Elgin bicyclist hits car making a turn
A 16-year-old Elgin boy was injured Sunday night when his bike collided with a car, police said.
The incident occurred at 9:06 p.m. when the car, a 1997 Buick LeSabre, was making a left turn from Walnut Avenue onto Gertrude Street, said Elgin Police spokeswoman Ann Dinges.
As the car attempted the turn, the teen rode his bike through the intersection and was hit by the car, Dinges said.
The teenager was taken by ambulance to Provena St. Joseph Hospital.
Dinges did not know the nature of his injuries, but said they were non-life threatening.
The 38-year-old woman driving the Buick was not ticketed for her part in the accident, Dinges said.
